Ahead of the 2026-27 home and season opener tomorrow, the Komoka Kings are pleased to announce that the club has named Riley Alexander as captain once again. Joining him as alternate captains are Morgan Paine, Tyson Ackerman, and Tristan Witmer.
Alexander, 20, enters his final season of eligibility in the GOHL. He is entering his fourth season in the league, all spent with Komoka. Alexander set career highs last season, scoring five goals, adding 10 assists, for 15 points in 50 games (also a career high). He’s no stranger to wearing a letter on his jersey, having served as captain in 2025-26 and as an Alternate Captain in 2024-25.
Paine, 18, enters his second season in the GOHL. A speedy, scoring forward, he led the Kings in points last season as a rookie with 41 in 50 games. Paine plays in all situations and is an important contributor on the power play and the penalty kill. He has experience as a winner, winning the Alliance Championship at the U18 level with the Elgin-Middlesex Canucks in 2024-25.
Ackerman, 18, enters his second season in the GOHL as well. He posted seven goals and seven assists for 14 points last season in 45 games. Ackerman’s confidence and role grew as the season went along, seeing time on special teams in addition to a large role at 5-on-5. He, like Paine, was part of the U18 Alliance Champion Elgin-Middlesex Canucks in 2024-25.
Witmer, 18, enters his first season in the GOHL. An Ottawa, ON, native, Witmer played last season with the Carleton Place Canadians and Casselman Vikings. He had 17 goals and 24 assists for 41 points in 42 games between the two leagues. Witmer is a two-time champion at the junior level, having won the EOJHL Championship in 2025 with the Ottawa Jr. Canadians and last year with the Vikings. He also was previously the captain of his U18 team in Ottawa.
The Kings look forward to the leadership and dedication of Riley, Morgan, Tyson, and Tristan, as the season gets underway on September 12th, at home, against LaSalle!
